Stage – Mart

At this level of maturity, at least one strong user is demanding reliable output from the BI solution. This leads to the creation of the mart layer, where the automation can be planned and also it allows better automation of the output generation in the same structure all the time.

Creation of the mart layer of the already existing “automated” stage layer starts to require regular effort that helps to reason the existence of a dedicated team within the organisation.

Increased usage of the solution requires a dedicated solution to orchestrate the ETL process throughout the solution. First formal OLA/SLA start to be defined, as there are more users and delays start to occur due to not defined priorities. As more units/users are involved, demands for more formal change management including test/dev environments increase in number.

Increased usage also triggers the interest of security officers with regard to data security and data lineage. The visualisation tool is formalised and automated to produce the outputs (reports) on regular basis. Access management becomes a topic with the increase in the number of users and outputs.

• To take care of security, as the access management is getting more complicated
• A central point where you can display data model and other metadata to users
