Project Background
Societe Generale Equipment Finance decided to modernize its reporting platforms, as the original solution based on MS Excel, monthly data updating and high labor demands was no longer viable in a competitive market environment.
In the first phase, it was decided to migrate the existing, most widely used sales activity reports containing key information about the performance of individual salespeople and sales teams, including comparing their results with budget expectations, to MS Power BI. These reports are essential for sales support and evaluation of the company’s overall sales performance.
The success of the first migration phase was smoothly followed up with deliveries which, in addition to existing information, were expanded with new needs – for example, views of clients or contracts using the lower tens in different dimensions or calculation and reporting of RWA and return on capital down to the contract level.

Challenge
1. The client’s reporting was primarily created in MS Excel and plagued with the typical disadvantages of this solution, such as:
- Laborious regular updating, leading to its lower frequency
- Out-of-datedness – long lag between the date of validity of the report and its delivery to the user

The main data source was a Teradata system data warehouse, where a reporting data mart was created containing data in the necessary form with regard to the optimal architecture and distribution of report performance. However, some systems, such as CRM Salesforce, were not yet fully integrated in this data warehouse, and therefore it was necessary to design their integration at the reporting tool level.
3. The creators of the original reporting solutions often no longer worked at the company and missing documentation frequently complicated verification taking place within the parallel running of the original and new reports.
Solution & Results

The new Power BI reporting system allows convenient access to current information with broad analytical breakdown options, from the aggregated company-wide level to the level of an individual agreement. User rights can be set not only at the level of entire reports, but also at the level of the underlying data reflected in the reports.
The introduction of a new reporting catalog, training of end users and report creators from the ranks of core employees was a given as part of the services provided. Many users now customize their views of business performance.
The new MS Power BI reports allow employees to devote more time to truly analytical work instead of tedious data processing. At the same time, these new reports have enabled the creation of new, interactive view of company operations with the potential of more efficient management.
